I have the honour to transmit to Your Excellency hore-
with the Minutes of an interview which I had yesterday
with Wie Excellency Li "hing-fang, the Vice-President
of the Vinistry of Communications, on the subject of the
Yorking Agrement for the connection of the Canton Kow-
loon Railway.
According to Lord Li, the crux of the whole question
lay in the division of profits end if this wera arranged,
an agreement on other points would not be attended with
much. dirriculty. He argued that the Chinese had already
made a considerable concession in proposine to kecspt
75% is their share of the profite and considered the Hong-
kong offer of 60% as quite inadequate to meet the justice
of the cas®. As reported, however,
in my tolegram of
today
Excellency
Bir P. D. Lugard, 0.0.3.0., 0.8., D.8.0.,
